SYNTH SLICER

Synth Slicer is a first-person, 3D rhythm game inspired by "Dance Dance Revolution" and other beat-based games like "Amplitude" or "Beat Saber." It utilizes Three.js and GLSL shaders for graphics and Meyda for waveform extraction and analysis.

Players navigate through a futuristic 3D environment, hitting notes in time with the music to score points.

The game uses procedural beatmap generation through digital signal processing and dynamic difficulty adjustment to allow players to create custom levels.

Westwood Tour

Generated console-based tours of the Westwood area with commentary and navigational instructions using C++. Accessed coordinates, geodata and points of interest for 20000+ streets in constant time through custom hashmap. Reduced compute and produced 50% shorter routes with custom stops through A* path-finding implementation.

AI ON THUMBS

As a part of the AI Camp's incubator program, I worked on a team of 5 as both a UI/UX Designer, and front-end engineer to revamp and add new lessons to their AI on Thumbs app. The app serves to make learning about machine learning and artificial intelligence more accessible, addressing the issue of unequal access to education and costly nature of learning materials.

The program consisted of weekly meetings presenting progress to the rest of the company, live team collaboration, and utilization of sprint boards and other industry standard methodologies. With my teammate, I used Figma to design a new quiz functionality for the app, a new landing page, and 2 new lessons on neural networks. Then, using React Native, Expo, and Android Studio, I fully implemented the quiz functionality along with some of the lesson pages.

JAICE

JAICE is a web-based empathetic response generator/"therapy" chatbot I worked on for AI Camp's summer session. My team and I wanted to create something that resonated with some of our personal struggles and that many people would be able to utilize and interact with.

As the lead backend developer, I focused on cleaning our dataset of ~25,000 emotionally driven conversations using pandas, fine tuning a pre-trained 124M version of GPT-2 with aitextgen, and linking the model to our user-facing website.

The project took around 4 weeks and was successfully completed with the help of my team members and my mentor (listed on the Github page).

RV32I CPU SIMULATOR

This project is a C++ implementation and simulation of a single-cycle, in order CPU microarchitecture for various RISC-V32I instructions. In particular, I implemented C++ classes and APIs for datapath components such as the immediate generator, ALU, and register file. I also simulated execution of assembly code, parsing instructions and giving bytes to datapath/controller implementations. See the github README for more details on the design and interface of the application.

ARDEN'S SIGNAL

For the 2021 Github gameoff (with the theme of "bug"), I worked with some friends (artists and devs alike) to create an RPG taking place on a retro-esque desktop environment. Users play through the storyline by browsing the computer and talking to their friend, Arden, who sends them a mysterious AI...

For this project, I largely worked on the concepts and implementing the dialogue utilizing an interpreter that a fellow dev designed and working in Unity with C#.

OUT OF BODY

For the 2022 TheGameDev.tv gameoff (with the theme of "Death is Just the Beginning"), I worked with my friend to create an underworld-setting platformer with the quirk of being able to float through structures with a ghost mode.

For this project, I designed most of the ../assets, the levels, and wrote some of the level logic using C# and Unity.

SEAING QUEER

SEAing Queer is a mapping project which aims to share the unique experiences of Southeast Asian LGBTQ+ UCLA students, through voluntary survey data. I worked on this project along with my partner Kienna for ASIAAM191A. In order to implement the goals we came up with together, I utilized largely open source technologies.

HTML, CSS, JS: Framework used to design and script the webpage MapLibreGL: Used to generate map based on JSON data, along with markers and popups. MapTiler: Used for API Key to produce map interface. PapaParse: Used to parse data from Google Sheets into a JSON format for further JavaScript processing.

This project is still ongoing, as we hope to refine the design of the webpage and more importantly, engage more of the Queer Southeast Asian community on campus and work with campus organizations to give back our findings to empower these communities.
